Totally Wicked .....

We're off to see the Wizard ...
Yup ... just keep moseying on down the Yellow Brick Road ...
but today
(and this is my favorite...)
we're gonna be
Wicked.
At last ... finally ... I'm gonna get to see the  Wizard ... in person!
(Okay... well ... maybe not in person ... on stage)
I've wanted to see this play forever.  I was hoping to see it in New York City ...
but since it was playing in my new stomping grounds ... Newport Beach ... I did
a  Munchkin dance of joy.
A beautiful venue ... the Segerstrom Center for the Arts is an amazing
and beautiful complex.
My fellow Oz travelers ...
my son Bryn and his gal Erynne ... Kai's boyfriend Nick and of course my daughter
Complicated Kai.
Everybody looking sharp and super excited about the evening.
 Tickets in hand ...
 and of course a "must-have" program ...
and ready for the night to begin.
(Aw... cute couple)
I'm loving this Center.  It's so large and very posh.
The set decorations are not to be believed.
They are huge and really transport you into the magic.
This huge flying creature hovered over the stage and the audience ...
 red eyes glowing.
This version of  Oz gives us a glimpse at a young
Elphaba (future Wicked Witch) and Glinda(future Good Witch)
(Spoiler ... did you know that they were once Best Friends?)
The Wizard is here too ... as well as a rather shady Headmistress.
(Is this gal Effie from Hunger Games or what?  I told ya)
The play tells the story of Elphaba and Glinda ... young love ...
broken hearts ... "green" prejudice ... and the beginnings of a beautiful friendship.
(But you didn't hear it from me.)

If you ever get a chance to see Wicked ... call me ... I'll go with ya.
The story is really clever and well-told.
The acting and the music ... unbelievably good.
The voices ... ba-nan-as!
(Sorry I briefly channeled Rachel Zoe)
The sets and the costumes ... well let's just say ... I was actually in Oz.

And ... as a disclaimer ... I am not a musical fan ... in general ...
but ... sista ... I've seen two plays now ... one in New York (Beauty & the Beast)
and Wicked ... on the left coast.
Two for two .... excellent!

**Note to my children ... you're lucky I just saw this ... cuz if you guys would have been
born now ... one of you would have been named
Elphaba.

I am in love ... take me back to Oz.
(Darn I wish I could sing.)

But wait ... there is one more day of Oz Week.
Stay tuned ... same Bat time ... same Bat channel.

Missed the first part of Oz Week?
Click on (GLINDA)  and then (ELPHABA)
