doggies is crazy.  I'm sure little kids are hard to keep still too.

Fur Baby Friday

Hi guys.  It's  Blake.

I'm lovin' Fridays cuz I get to link up with all you other fur babies out there.

Maxis and Denim ... just sayn'

Jeans are my uniform.  

I love em  ...  cuffed  ...  bootcut  ...  or bell bottomed.  

As much as I like skinny jeans though  ...  and I do  ...

they just don't like me.  I know my limitations  ...  at least sometimes.

My style involves layering  ...  generally  ...  with a longer shirt 

underneath  ...  shorter jacket or shirt over the top.

I also adore mixing in vintage pieces  ...  as with this Coast Guard jacket ...

my absolute favorite thrift store find!

When plain denim won't do  ...  I just add some chiffon to the bottom  ...

and  voila   ...  Maxi Skirts ...  my other "go-to" fashion favorite.

***You can probably tell I just keep reusing my jeans ... can't seem to throw them out***

I definitely love me some Maxi Skirts  ...  throw in some pleats and I'm good.

This skirt  ...  you may remember seeing here  ...  turned out pretty well  ...  miraculously.

...  Google and I made this together!

This paisley chiffon maxi  ...  I absolutely did not make.

Usually I pair it with a long tee or a denim jacket ...  but on this occasion

it was a bit chilly so I wore a sweater instead.

Are you seeing a pattern here?  I do have legs  ...  but you will probably

never see them.

Had to leave you with a family shot.

There are those skinny jeans  ...   doggone it  ...  my "not-so-skinny" legs

are jealous.

And of course  ...   Complicated Kai   ...  yes  ...  Miss Style  ...  also in a maxi skirt.

I rest my case.

So this is my   Lookbook.  

My first one  ...  and maybe my last one.

I'm still trying to keep up  ...  but sometimes I think I should just 

leave the fashion to you guys  ...  and buy some

polyester stretch pants  and a pair of  Hush Puppies.

One of the things parents fear most....

Do you know one of the things parents fear most?

When their children start dating!

Let me qualify that ... when their  daughters ...  start dating!

One day they're little ...  cuddly ...  and  mom  is the center of their world.

The next minute ... they're wearing make-up ... and mini skirts ... 

and the center of their world is some guy named ...

Justin ... or Sean ... or Spike.

***for the record...I'd never let her date a guy named Spike***

The basic  age for dating rule ... for all of our kids ... was  16 years old.

We tried to buy some more time with our daughter ... by adding the condition ...

"You can date when you win your first tennis tournament."

Well ... she got pretty good ... and we were stuck.

So one day ... while in one of my more "devilish" moods ... I decided to play havoc

with my daughter's love life.

I concocted a typewritten ... two page 

"Application to Date My Daughter".

Seriously ... I actually did.  I thought it was kind of  funny ... she did not!

Undaunted ... I volunteered to give one of her admirers a ride home after football practice

... whereupon I handed him the application in a neat ... white ... sealed ... envelope.

Needless to say ... he was sweating bullets.

***which was probably the point***

Though I don't have a copy of the original document ...

I still remember many of the questions ...

What are the names of her brothers?

What is her favorite color?

Do you have a job?

What college are you going to attend?

***yada...yada...yada... 2 pages worth***

... and lastly ...

Do you drink or take drugs?

(If the answer to  this  questions is yes .... tear up this application.)

You cannot date my daughter!

Boy ... those were the days.  I never did understand why all of her

boyfriends were afraid of me .....  it's a mystery.

Today Complicated Kai ... has a boyfriend ... and amazingly she picked him out

all by herself.  

Maybe it's not too late to write up another application.

I do sometimes wonder whatever happened to that first boyfriend ... sorry dude.

His roots were in blues and gospel ... but went on to be

one of the originators of ...

Funk!

The man was a legend no doubt ... and he definitely had some moves.

Puppy Love in the California Sun

Hey all you Fur Babies ...

TGIF.

The sun is finally shining here in California ...

and it's almost the weekend.

What do you guys have planned for your weekend?

I'm hoping to go out for a walk ... get a little exercise ... maybe visit friends.

Or ... just relax by the pool.

Yeah ... that might be the best idea yet.

Oh ... and maybe some music.

Yeah ... relax by the pool with some rockin' tunes.

Hmmm ... and I gotta have a tall ... cool ... drink.

Ok ... relaxing by the pool ... some great music ... and a cool drink.

Oooh ... and pizza ... pepperoni.

Ok ... I gotta quit.  Now I'm hungry.
